I went to Peru a couple years ago. Planning to just be gone til whenever. I bought a one way ticket and figured when it was time to come home I would buy one back. However! When i got to check i was asked when is my return flight?
“I dont have one.”
“you have to have one in order to leave”
So i had to buy a super expensive refundable plane ticket and then just refund when i got to Peru.

Is there a traveling rule that you must have a return flight? I am going to Mexico in January with the same idea. Am i going to run into the same thing this time?

On my way out i had two flights, one from london to new york and then another from new york to lima (peru). i unfortunately missed my 2nd flight on the way out because my first flight was over 1 hour late and i couldn’t get through customs in time. I was automatically booked onto the next available flight the next day, however this meant a 24 hour stay in new york. My question is if continental should pay for the cost of the hotel? (i.e. do they have any legal obligations to do so?). Both flights were continental airways flights so it is their fault that i missed my flight.

If anyone has anny experience of something like this their advice would be much appreciated.

OK, so our flight from Tacna to Lima was booked separately from our flight from Lima to SF. The questions are will Lan Peru cheack our bags all the way thought to our Continantal flight or are we going to have to recheck our bags in Lima? Also, if our Lan flight is late and we miss our Contiental flight, will Continental still get us home (even though the flights we booked separately) or are we stranded?

I ask both of these because we only have a 2.5 hour layover which seems to me to be cutting it a little close (especially if we have to recheck and the flight is late.)

I’m headed to Costa Rica and planned on heading to Peru however flights between the two come up to a grand in avg. Decided to fly back home to settle some stuff and fly back down to Peru. Avg prices I have found for Peru seem to be 5-700 (low end) however, July they jump to 900-1200! Why is this?
