I returned home from a trip to various countries in Latin America recently including Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Brazil, Honduras and Argentina. I came back with over a hundred pounds in currency from these countries but when I tried to change them back into sterling at travel bureau’s here in the UK they say they can’t because the currency is volatile or something along those lines..anyone know where I can change them here in the UK??

Just to respond to Marina Rat (although I’m not sure why I’m giving you the time of day). I DO NOT claim to know more than you or anyone else about this subject. THAT’S WHY I ASKED THE QUESTION. I actually realize that I know VERY LITTLE about the subject, which is why I asked the question. Also, I HAVE been outside my country several times, just not in this fashion. YOU seem to be the one who thinks he knows everything. I mean, you did SEEK OUT my question to answer, right? Then why be a jerk? Just answer the question and keep the insults to yourself. But thanks for the 40 lb limit idea. I WILL keep that in mind, as that could be valuable advice. If only it had been presented in a manner that didn’t portray you as a jerk……….

I was thinking about going to Rio in Feb for Carnaval, then heading south into patagonia, then back up north through Chile & Peru, then into Colombia and Venezuela before taking the amazon back into Brazil to go fly home. I’m planning on spending six months to do this. My problem, though, is that I may need to wait until late April/early May to go because of work obligations. So…should I go ahead as planned but leave in April/May or should I wait a few months so I don’t freeze my **** off in Patagonia? June-July-August are the coldest months there, right?
