Most likely, you will travel through Los Angeles. It’s roughly 14 hours from Sydney to LAX, and another 3 and a half to 4 hours from LAX to Mexico City. Returning from Lima, again you will likely go through LAX – although it’s about 8 and a half hours from Lima, Peru to LAX and then 14 hours back to Sydney. This is just the flying time and it depends on how long the connection at LAX is. Also this assumes that they’re going through LAX – but otherwise they’d have to make 2 connections and it would take longer.
Umm… not sure off the top of my head, but I’m fairly sure there wouldn’t be direct flights. Probably have to go through the United States en route in both directions.
