April and May are spring months.

Average temeperature April: Min 1º – Max 9º
Average temperature May: Min 6º – Max 16º

Be sure to take waterproof clothing. If you should be unlucky with the weather, remember a wise Norwegian saying, “There is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing.”

    Buen viaje!

In May the temperature will be fine, the most you will need is a light jacket

    Hi Jessica.
The thing is, you’re not saying where in Norway you may want to go. Since Norway is a country stretching around 2000 km from south to north, the expected weather at any given time can vary quite a bit. The same applies to differences between coastal areas and mountain areas.
But for the Oslo area, the main temperature in May is 16 C during the day, 7 at night; the average for April is 9 C during day and 1 at night. Further north it will be somewhat colder on average.
Speaking from personal experience, the weather in May is usually very pleasant. There should be quite a bit of sunshine, the snow will have melted and the springtime air is fresh and fragrant. April weather is usually somewhat more fickle.
I’m not trying to be rude, but you say May before April when you write about it. Just in case you mean March instead of May, then the average temperature in March (again for Oslo area) is 4 C in daytime and -3 at night.
If you have a choice when to go, I would very much recommend going towards the end of the period you’re talking about – i.e. May, or at least late April.
Hope you enjoy Norway – and your birthday – whenever you go :-)

The first link is for Oslo area weather:
In case you’re going somewhere other than Oslo, the second link is a map of Scandinavia where you can click on the dots to see the weather for the given spot. A blue dot indicates that you can find statistical weather facts in addition to a 6 day forecast.
