What do you think about George W. Bush caught cussing on camera with Tony Blair?

cannonball asked:

Well, I am an old political science graduate with an emphasis in international relations. And I wasn’t surprised one bit by the Bush tape. Politics are much much dirtier than the genereal public realizes. Most Americans only pay attention to glossy TV ads once every 2 or 4 years. Everything looks nice and clean. Everything comes off as black and white. Men wear suits and pander to audiences. Audiences eat it up, vote (the majority don’t), and everyone goes home. But what goes on behind the scenes is probably too much for the general public to stomach. It’s like sausage making. We love the result but the actual production is greusome. Things get pretty crude when the door closes. And in some cases, it gets caught on camera. Also, a related story would be the hundreds and hundreds of actual bribes that were caught in Peru. They were made public and it brought down Fujimori. But that is a bit off the subject.

I love the result of sausage making, not so much the political process. In essence though, Bush should not have let himself be caught (he should have been on guard at all times when cameras are around because you never know who is watching), but for once he seems to have gotten things right on the money. Though he probably would have cleaned it up for the cameras had he known they were there.

I have been in the hospital and still have not caught up. What did Bush say? I was only able to catch bits and pieces of the tape.

I see someone above me said Bush said s_it? That’s what all the hoopla has been about? I think as “they” say, “he has bigger fish to fry than to worry about that.” Must have been a very slow news day. Everyone swears some times. At lease he’s human, at times I wonder.

  6. JeffyB says:

I think Bush’s cursing is the very least important news item in the last five years. Who cares?

he is surrounded by the most corrupt, unethical, self-serving political scum of our era, and anyone is surprised that he curses?.

Shakespeare said it best: much ado about nothing.

  8. beckyschristine says:

what about it? oh well i don’t care

  9. Blunt Honesty says:

I agree. There is no reason to expect politicians to not use curse words. In this instance, it was a private conversation. The one that actually surprised me was Cheney using the F word on the Senate floor. Not because he used the word, but at the lack of decorum on the floor.

  10. bullcitydon says:

He was just telling it like it is.

  11. bretto24 says:

It wasn’t his swearing that stuck me. It was how the two interacted with him talking with his mouth full, and Blair looking extrememly frustrasted as if talking to a Boss that just did not understand.

But I do laugh at the hypocracy of those who supposedly vote for ‘moral values’. Bush played them for morons. They actually beleive he reads the Bible every night.

  12. they call me LEG says:

Well, I don’t much care for the man………actually I really really really dislike him, but I can’t begrudge him for saying a couple of naughty words here and there. I cuss like a sailor sometimes myself.

  13. murph_ltt says:

Not a big deal. Last I heard Bush was a human.

  14. justwondering says:

he said s***, who cares, but the picture of him looked like he may have had one to many drinks.

  15. David A says:

so what. do you remember Regan (my hero). Before a radio address not knowing the mike was hot he said something like my fellow americans war has errupted and we have begun launching ICBMs at the Soviet Union

  16. M J says:

Even though I do not like this man, he IS human!

I said something similar when I heard the news!

That event is enough to make ANYONE cuss!!!!

  17. Kain says:

I think its very light drama compared to what the cameras don’t catch him doing.

Personally its not a big deal to me. I mean hes human after all.
I do not believe it was very professional of him, but then again he did not know he was being recorded so. Overall I think the last two days have just been a slow news day and the media, esp anti bush media have blown it out of proporation.

  18. Tincanintheatomosphere says:

    I think Mr. Bush was expressing his First Amendment ;

However I would have preferred a much vulgar word.

  19. Vinny M says:

i don’t know why people think that politicians aren’t human. so they swear, big deal. i’d be more concerned if he didn’t. same thing with smoking weed – who hasn’t tried it at least once. just because they are in politics doesn’t mean they are saints. and, not for nothing, they are probably worse than most people.

  20. clarity says:

Trust me when I tell you I’m no fan of Dubya’s, but he is far from the first politician who’s been caught by an open microphone. Even the “Great Communicator,” Ronald Reagan was caught. It’s just one of those things.

  21. The Max says:

I think everyone is freaking out because they now realize George Bush is like a normal person and not just a politician.

ps – I was watching a thing on Fujimori the Japenese – Peruvian Ex-President last night.

  22. joker says:

The Republicans so called Religious Right will defend Bush no matter what he says or does. It is called BLIND LOYALTY. They chose party over America. Bush is White Trash and should have never been INSTALLED as President. His character assassination of John McCain and John Kerry was a shame and about as sleazy as you can get. Come November, if we don’t fire the Senate we have and Impeach this slimy puke Bush, we deserve all this misfortune we have endured.

  23. TJ says:

    Big deal. Don’t we all say S H I T

  24. annie Bee says:

Everyone is paying more attention to a four letter word than what that smirking little banty rooster said. Just wait until Hezbolla?? isgets the sh*t bombed out of it, Not exact but quote close enough.

There will be no US intervention until Israel has done all the damage it can do, because it suits the Bush Adminstration’s agenda, along with his dance partner, Tony Blair.

It is terrible when civilians are collateral damage any where, and Israel deserves a good stiff kick in the pants for it’s arrogance!

  25. Karen S says:

I think you are underestimating the public! I’m sure most of us DO realise what goes on behind the scenes. Politics is a dirty game.As for President Bush and Tony Blair,so he said sh*t,and we now know, President Bush talks with his mouthfull,so what?? It was amusing, but at the same time, showing that they were doing what most of us do!! They are just mere human beings!
    Sausages? Discusting things!

  26. darna says:

so what! there’s no law prohibiting a prisident to say dirty words. He was just carried away, like all human beings do.

  27. doggies_will_rule says:

    he did i didn’t know

  28. tRiKsTeRgOd says:

    Who gives a shiite?

  29. bkhe says:

I loved it. Big deal he swore, like no president before him ever swore. Im glad that he said what he did, it reminded me that he is only human.
